Healthy Living Guidelines for Early Learning and Child Care Centres on PEI
The PEI Healthy Eating Alliance have partnered with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Department of Health and Wellness, Early Childhood Development Association, early childhood educators and other key stakeholders to develop the “Healthy Living Guidelines for Early Learning and Child Care Centres on PEI”. The purpose of the Guidelines is to provide effective direction, meaningful advice, and where appropriate, specific instructions on how to create the healthiest and safest environments possible for children.
To support the implementation of the "Healthy Living Guidelines for Early Learning and Child Care Centres on PEI", the Healthy Eating Alliance created a "Healthy Eating Toolkit for Early Years: A toolkit for parents, early childhood educators and caregivers of young children". This toolkit was developed with funding from the Children's Secretariat Partnerships for Children. The toolkit can be accessed through the Resource section of our website.

Eating Between the Lines Project
Eating Between the Lines is an early literacy, healthy eating program for children and their families. Researchers Dr. Ray Doiron from the UPEI Department of Education and Dr. Jennifer Taylor from the UPEI Department of Family & Nutritional Sciences worked with child care facilities to develop and pilot an exciting literacy and healthy eating program for kindergarten children. The project resulted in an interactive website which provides educators and parents with access to healthy eating and literacy materials and resources.
